Iron Age sword and scabbard from Cotterdale, Yorkshire

These are among the finest examples of an Iron Age sword with its scabbard in Britain, due to their good condition and distinctive design. Discovered together on the moors of Cotterdale in North Yorkshire, the find was presented to the Society in 1870 by Lord Wharncliffe. Not a fellow himself. Wharncliffe was amongst a growing number of local correspondents to alert the Society of notable finds.
