Dove Cot & Manor House<\/p><\/div>\n

The forecast for completion of all capital works has been revised to September 2021, reopening to the public in April 2022.\u00a0 \u00a0We will be offering limited \u2018hard hat\u2019 tours of the Manor house in July and August 2021, with details available here\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Conservation of the historic farm buildings is now complete, including the new build Learning Space & Artist Studio, which stands on the footprint of a former \u2018thatched\u2019 Byre (once again enclosing the Farmyard).\u00a0\u00a0 Gavin Williams, Property Manager, is currently organising the fit-out of the new Learning Space with equipment to provide education workshops for local schools and community groups.\u00a0 He has also appointed Hannah Britton as the new Education & Outreach Officer and she will start programming the Space from June.\u00a0 Participants will be given opportunities to have hands-on learning experiences, delivered through activities and workshops and with access to artefacts and specialist resources. This new programme is a response to the needs of local schools and community groups, by formalising the educational dimension so that young people can learn about the history and environment of Kelmscott Manor and the famous artists, writers and designers it inspired, such as William Morris, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, May Morris, Edward Burne-Jones, Philip Webb.<\/p>\n

New Learning Space & Artist Studio<\/p><\/div>\n

The Space will also support a new artist-in-residence programme as well as the community archaeological programme, which will begin in 2022. The Learning Space & Studio has been generously supported by The Company of Arts Scholars, The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Hobson Charity.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Kelmscott Manor is owned and managed by The Society of Antiquaries of London (Charity no. 207237), one of the oldest learned Societies in the world.\u00a0 The Society\u2019s work to repair and maintain the historic buildings and collections publicly demonstrates our dedication to caring for the remains of the past, and keeps alive the conservation ethos pioneered by Morris.<\/p>\n
