Open Access Publications

The Society of Antiquaries of London is delighted to begin making its publications more widely available via OAPEN (Open Access Publishing in European Networks). The first two titles selected for this are Glastonbury Abbey: Archaeological Investigations 1904-79 by Roberta Gilchrist & Cheryl Green and Sherborne Old Castle, Dorset: Archaeological Investigations 1930-90 by Peter White & Alan Cook.

Based in The Netherlands, OAPEN is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to open access (OA), peer-reviewed books. OAPEN operates two platforms, the OAPEN Library, a central repository for hosting and disseminating OA books, and the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), a discovery service for OA books.

Early next year, we will be putting more monographs online with Open Access, with a view to eventually publishing all the Society’s monographs this way.
