On 25 September, the Society of Antiquaries of London held a charity auction for Kelmscott Manor (the Cotswold retreat of William Morris). With more than 100 objects and experiences sold, raffle prizes, ticket sales and donations, the Society raised more than £37,800 in support of this important heritage site.
The funds raised for Kelmscott Manor will allow the Society of Antiquaries to embark immediately upon its plans for conservation and development of the Manor, improving the visitor experience in the short term and preserving the estate for future generations. Armed with its comprehensive Conservation Management Plan (completed in 2013) and the funds raised by the charity auction this autumn, the Society is already taking action and will complete a formal business plan for development before Christmas.
Donations are still being accepted!
If you are interested in supporting Kelmscott Manor and want to know more about donating to its conservation and development projects, please contact Head of Development Dominic Wallis (email@example.com or 020 7479 7092).
Other ways to support Kelmscott Manor include visiting the attraction before it is put to bed for the winter (last day is Wednesday, 29 October) or joining the membership programme, Friends of Kelmscott Manor.
