National Heritage Protection Plan Consultation
02 May 2014
Newly-elected President Gill Andrews and General Secretary John Lewis attended an English Heritage consultation “workshop” on the next National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP) on 25 April. They contributed to the discussion with detailed comments during the event and a follow-up letter to the NHPP team.

The Society welcomes English Heritage's desire to ensure the next Action Plan has the widest possible applicability. However, both the President and the General Secretary were disappointed to discover that English Heritage has no intention to consult further with the sector following the 25 April workshop. Many of the attendees expected to see a draft of the Action Plan inviting comment before issue, and without this, will find it difficult to see how the ambition to achieve ownership of the document by the sector can be met.
