Visiting and Using the Library

Fellows of the Society of Antiquaries of London are invited to visit and use the Library during regular hours of operation.

Information for Researchers

We are always delighted to welcome new researchers to the Library to consult materials that are not available elsewhere, and help them navigate our archives and collections. Please make an appointment before visiting.
We cannot guarantee that research visits at short notice or without an appointment can be accommodated.

Opening Hours

Monday to Friday
10.00 to 17.00
(except public holidays)

Planned Library Closures

The Library is closed to external researchers on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd April. The Library will close to Fellows at 3:15 on these days for the Collective Wisdom event.

The Library will be closed for Easter from Wednesday 17th April and will re-open on Wednesday 24th April.

The Library will be closed to external researchers on Tuesday 30th April. 
The Library will close to Fellows at 15:30 on Tuesday 30th of April. This is due to the Anniversary Meeting.

Access

The Library is located on the first floor. Access to parts of it is limited but staff assistance is available.

We regret we are unable to undertake extensive research on individual enquiries.

Copying services

A staffed photocopying service is available, subject to copyright and provided there is no risk of damage to the original. For materials that are unsuitable for photocopying we can offer a photographic service. Please contact us for further information about our copying services and charges.
