Information for Researchers

We are always delighted to welcome new researchers to the Library and help them navigate our archives and collections, but we are able to accommodate new researchers by appointment only.

Opening Hours

Monday to Friday
10.00 to 17.00
(except public holidays)

Planned Library Closures

The Library will be closed from Monday 31 July until Monday 4 September.

Manuscripts temporarily unavailable

Please note that the following manuscripts are currently available. They are being displayed as part of the Blood Royal : Picturing the Tudor Monarchy exhibition:

  • MS 125                 Mary I. A Book of ffees and offices
  • MS 129A              Inventory of Henry VIII, Part A   
  • MS 538                 Elizabeth I new Year’s Gift Roll, 1567/8

 They will be available again from the 4 September 2017.

Access

The Library is located on the first floor. Access to parts of it is limited but staff assistance is available.

Copying services

A staffed photocopying service is available, subject to copyright and provided there is no risk of damage to the original. For materials that are unsuitable for photocopying we can offer a photographic service. Please contact us for further information about our copying services and charges.
