Kelmscott Manor Extends a Warm Welcome to Our Group Visitors
Kelmscott Manor promises a unique experience for groups at the spiritual home of the Arts and Crafts Movement. We welcome groups of all ages and interests to former Cotswold retreat of William Morris. With so much to see and do both in the Manor and in the surrounding Kelmscott village, we would recommend allowing a minimum of two hours for your visit.
Group Visits on Thursdays
Private visits for groups can be arranged every Thursday, April to October. You will need to pre-book in order that we can make your visit as welcoming as possible.
We offer a range of benefits and services to groups of 20 or more people, including exclusive access to the Manor and grounds on our group open days. We offer guided tours with experienced guides (both for general interest and special interest groups), and delicious home-cooked food in our 5-star rated Tearoom.
All our visitors are important to us. Every group is personally welcomed by our visitor experience team.
If you would like to visit us as a group on a Thursday during 2017 or 2018 please let us know as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Kelmscott Manor is the 'Small Visitor Attraction of the Year' (Cotswolds Tourism, 2014).

Kelmscott Village Tours
During your visit to the Manor we highly recommend that you also experience Kelmscott village. We can offer guided tours of the village, which is just a short walk from the Manor, incorporating the beautiful 12th-century church and a visit to the Morris family grave (designed by William Morris’s great friend, Philip Webb), where William, his wife Jane and his two daughters are all buried. The tour also includes other Arts & Crafts buildings associated with the Morris family such as the Morris Memorial Hall and cottages designed by architects Ernest Gimson and Philip Webb.
Tours depend on availability. If you are interested in booking a village tour, please get in touch. There is an additional charge for this.
Free Entry Eligibility
The total group number should include any person eligible for free entry as listed below:
- 1 coach driver (per coach)
- 1 group organiser, tour escort or Blue Badge Guide (per coach, for groups of 32 and above)

The Tearoom will be open at set times on group days so that visitors will have the option of individually purchasing their refreshments on the day of visit.
The Tearoom is open from 12.00 pm to 2.30 pm for lunches and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm for cream teas and cakes.
Our menu includes a variety of light refreshments and lunches, as well as afternoon teas and cream teas. Our delicious homemade food is prepared with locally-sourced ingredients where possible and served in the Tearoom.
Please indicate on your booking form whether your group will be purchasing refreshments or catering on the day of your visit.
Please note: To ensure availability, please let us know in advance if you would like an afternoon tea.
Unable to Visit Us On a Thursday?
Whilst we encourage groups to visit us on Thursdays in order to get an exclusive experience (and exclusive access to the site), we do realise that not everyone is able to do so. We therefore welcome groups on our General Open Days on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the season and invite them to access and enjoy the Manor along with other visitors on a free- flow, self-guided basis.
We will endeavour to meet and greet each group personally. We ask that groups notify us as far in advance of their visit as possible.
Arrival, Departure and Access
Your coach will be met by our team at the coach bay outside the South Road Barn (drop-off and pick-up point). The coach bay is adjacent to the main entrance to the Manor. However, if you have any concerns regarding mobility, please see our ‘Accessibility and On-Site Facilities’ page.
Departure time will be agreed with the group prior to arrival.
As well as visiting the Manor and grounds, you may wish to take a short stroll along the Thames Path, only 200 metres from the Manor. Our team will be happy to direct you and your group.
You can download a map of appoaches to the village and places of interest.
