Richard III: the Resolution of a Mystery

Lecture by Dr Turi King.

Turi is a geneticist at the University of Leicester with a background in Archaeology and Anthropology from Cambridge University. Her work has centred around the link between surnames and genetics, as well as work on the forensic aspects thereof, genetic genealogy, genetic ancestry and assessing the genetic legacy of the Vikings in the north of England.

Turi worked with Paul Brotherton overseeing the DNA retrieval and sequencing from Richard III’s remains after they were discovered (the University of Leicester worked in collaboration with the Richard III Society and Leicester City Council to search for the ill-fated monarch). Turi will about her involvement in the Richard III project, focusing on the DNA analysis.
