Come and explore 300 years of collecting history at our Burlington House premises as part of Open Fridays for our Sensing History project
10.30am-4pm FREE ENTRY (last admission 3.40pm)
What do a seventeenth-century pair of wedding knives, an eighteenth-century marriage settlement, and a nineteenth-century book of Valentine verses have in common? They are all on the list of items likely to feature in a pop-up display on love at the Society of Antiquaries! Drop in to view these and other “romantic” treasures from our collections as we celebrate Valentines Day in style. The display is part of our regular Open Friday event.
Our popular staircase tours take place at 12pm and 3pm, subject to staff and volunteer availability. Lasting 30-40 minutes, these introductions to the Society and its founders end with an opportunity to view our stunning Victorian library, with its outstanding collection amassed over 300 years. Please note, these tours are not bookable in advance.
To make sure our Open Fridays are accessible to all, we offer bookable slots at 10.30am for visitors with additional needs. Get in touch to find out more.
Open Fridays are part of our Sensing History at the Society of Antiquaries project, which is kindly supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund, John Murray Charitable Trust, Movement For Good, & Museum Development London.
