We are looking to recruit a Serials and E-Resources Librarian at the Society of Antiquaries of London.  Dating back to 1718 the Society’s library is the country’s oldest major research library for the study of the material remains of the past.  This is an exciting time to join the library team as we implement our 5-year strategic plan to make the Library more accessible physically and digitally and maintain our position as one of the leading specialist libraries in the country.

You will be responsible for the management of electronic and printed serials and the provision of online services to Fellows, the library management system and cataloguing of new acquisitions. You will also participate in enquiry work and invigilating the main library.

 

You will have:-

  • An appropriate library qualification
  • Cataloguing experience. Rare book cataloguing would be helpful but is not essential
  • Experience of supporting a library management system. Experience of the ExLibris Voyager system would be helpful, but again this is not essential
  • Experience of serials management
  • Practical experience of enquiry work
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills and ICT skills
  • An ability to think beyond existing practices and find ways to improve processes
  • An interest in a relevant subject such as archaeology or history
