The Beyond Notability project enters its 6th month of work this month! Since our October 2021 launch we’ve been busy scoping archives at the Society of Antiquaries and linked institutions and beginning to chart the lives of women in archaeology, history and heritage on our database.
For International Women’s Day, we will be taking over the Society’s Twitter feed to bring you the stories of five women: artists Rosa Wallis, Margaret Stokes and Jessie Mothersole; historian Eliza Jeffries Davis, and archaeologist Margerie Venables Taylor. The takeover will feature some great illustrative material from the archives of the Society of Antiquaries and from the Victoria County History, a project that employed several early Fellows of the Society of Antiquaries.
