We would like to thank all our supporters for their efforts over the last few months for our campaign to stay at Burlington House. As a result of the huge support that we have received, Parliament will host a debate in Westminster Hall on “The Future of the learned societies at Burlington House”, following an application by Tim Loughton MP

This is a great opportunity to present our case and evidence to the Minister, and the public value at risk if relocation takes place.

We would like to ask supporters to connect or reconnect with your Member of Parliament and request that they attend the debate in support of our cause. We have provided a template email below.

The debate takes place at 4.50pm – 5.50pm on Tuesday 8 June and you will be able to watch it live (or recorded) on  ParliamentTV.

Westminster Hall Debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local or national issues and receive a response from a government minister in attendance. For further information on these debates please go to this explainer page on the Parliamentary website.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected]

Draft template from Fellow to MPs

Dear MP XXX,

Further to our earlier correspondence regarding the situation facing the Societies of Burlington House, I am writing to ask you to attend and take part in a Westminster Hall debate on the matter taking place at 4:50pm – 5:50pm on Tuesday 8 June.

As the Societies continue to campaign for a sustainable, long-term future at Burlington House, we are keen to demonstrate the great coalition of support across Parliament on the matter.

If you can attend please let the campaign know by emailing [email protected].  A briefing will be provided by the four Societies for Members taking part outlining the evidence and arguments for a long-term sustainable future at Burlington House for the Courtyard Societies.

Tim Loughton MP has secured this debate and is helping co-ordinate. As such, I would also be grateful if your office could reach out to him.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Your sincerely,
