Women in the Heritage
This page is dedicated to opinions, comments, memories and anecdotes concerning women who have played an influential role in the heritage. Contributions are very welcome, and should be sent to Christopher Catling, the website editor (ccatling @ sal.org.uk>).
As a separate initiative, but spurred to new momentum by the Society’s Women in the Heritage day, a group of heritage professionals led by Ela Palmer is planning to establish a Women in Heritage forum, providing a platform by which women at various stages of their career can access information and get in contact with other women and peers in a variety of heritage organisations and networks. Further details can be found on the WiH website, where you will find a statement of aims, contact details and a short questionnaire designed to guage the level of support for this initiative.
Further extensive resources relating to the subject of women in archaeology can be found on the Brown University Breaking Ground project website.
