Influencing heritage policy
The Society uses the expertise of its Fellows to influence public
opinion and to engage in the formulation of public policy on the
preservation, management and wider understanding of the cultural
heritage. It encourages informed debate and hosts regular public
meetings and seminars on topical issues.
Consultation responses
The Society aims to respond to all public consultations on matters of heritage policy, either in its own right or as a member of The Archaeology Forum. Recent responses are available for reading and/or downloading by selecting items from the menu on the right.
Stonehenge consultation July 2008
The
Society of Antiquaries has responded to the 2008 consultation on the
Stonehenge Word Heritage Site Management Plan by saying that it fully
supports the
Management Plan and endorses the Vision, Strategic Objectives and Aims
contained within it, whilst also calling for ways to be sought to
strengthen the
sections on public access and education.
