Visiting the Library

Anyone who is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries can automatically use the Library. The library is open to other visitors for research purposes, but please contact us first to discuss your research and make an appointment.

Our opening times are Monday–Friday, 10am–5pm, except public holidays, and the Christmas and New Year period. The Society’s premises usually close for six weeks in the summer, from mid-July to the end of August.

We accept enquiries by telephone, post and email, but we regret we are unable to undertake extensive research on individual enquiries. Please telephone 020 7479 7084, or email library@sal.org.uk.

Access and Facilities

There is no charge for using the library but donations are welcome, as the Society receives no public funding.
The library is located on the first floor. Wheelchair access to parts of the library are limited but staff assistance is available.
There are toilet facilities on the ground floor.
