William Lambarde Memorial Fund

This Fund was established in 1968 as a result of a bequest to the Society by the late Mrs M M Lambarde, with additional funding from the Society. The income is to be applied for ‘the provision of a travelling scholarship or travelling scholarships in archaeology or otherwise for the promotion of antiquarian studies.'

The Fund has a total of about £2,000 each year to award, the maximum grant being £500.

Applications are considered by the Research Committee. In making their decisions the committee will be putting weight on the reasons for the application, its viability (practical and financial) and its eventual contribution to scholarship. Preference will be given to those who have not already received a grant from this Fund. Awards will not normally be made to support work for a university degree.

All answers must be made on the application form provided. Your application will be considered solely on the basis of the information you have provided on your application form. The font size must not be smaller than 10 point.

Members of the Research Committee are debarred from acting as referees.

Applications (twelve copies) must be submitted by the Friday in the first full week of January in the year of application for consideration in March at which time grants will be available for successful applicants. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

One reference is required and must be supplied on the appropriate referee form. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that it arrives at the Society by the closing date .

All applicants will be notified of the result by the end of March.

Grants should be taken up by 31 December of the year in which they were awarded.
