Travel grants for non-students
Background: The Fund was established as a result of a bequest to the Society by Mrs M.E. Lambarde with additional funding from the Society.
Scope: The fund gives grants for scholarships for travel in the field of archaeology or antiquarian studies. These awards are made annually with approximately £2,000 being available each year; successful applicants can receive amounts up to £500. Awards will not normally be made to support work for postgraduate degrees.
Usual Amount of award: up to £500
Applicants should also note that:
- The Committee will put weight on the reasons for the application, its viability (practical and financial) and its eventual contribution to scholarship. Preference will be given to those who have not already received a grant from this fund. Awards will not normally be made to support work for a university degree.
- Grants should be taken up by 31 December of the year in which they are awarded.
- Your application will be considered solely on the basis of the information you provide on your application form, the font size should be no smaller than 10 point. One reference is required and must be supplied on the appropriate referee form
- Applications (12 copies) and references (12 copies) must be submitted by 15 January in the year of application. Late applications or those with late or missing references will not be considered. It is your responsibility to ensure your reference reaches the Society by the deadline.
